Morning all

I'm looking at building a small, low power always on file server. Basically a NAS with a little bit of power, possibly connected to a screen to act as a local media player as well. (Maybe an Ion?)

I'm thinking an Atom would be powerful enough to run all this.

Would anyone care to make a recommendation - or is this complete lunacy?

Thanks

Martin

if you plan to have it playing media and such, then an ion would be the best to go for.

so you might as well get an ion, then u can have that option available to you.

for a simple file server, u really done need a lot of processing power.

get one of the zotac or asus atom 330 ion boards, add in about 2gb ram and stick it in the case of your chosing

Do overclockers sell the motherboards?

I'm looking, but I can't find them...

(I'm slightly hesitant about mentioning this, given the Thou Shalt Not Mention Other Suppliers rule, but I'm not sure if I'm being blind or they're not there)

unfortuatlly not any more, they used to sell some of them

the only mini-itx ones they have now are the H55 ones
