I'm interested in selling my bulky Dell 1520 and replacing it with a netbook.

The only thing i am concerned about is the power of the the Atom CPU.

Can anyone tell me what it is capable of? Is it sluggish at all?

Could it handle photoshop? General multitasking?

What's the most yours has got up to?

thanks,

Gil.

sorry but that me laugh out loud.
The cpu should be able to work photoshop, my old athlon 1200 can and that slower but the max screen of 10" (currently) is not going to work well is it (unless you want a desktop basis)

The Atom 1.6 CPU's actually arnt that bad. We use them in some low-end Dedicated Servers and everyone seems happy with the performance.

Laugh all you want if that's what makes you happy. You cool guy you!!! ;)

But i dont find resizing images that amusing. Unless its a funny picture of course.

Cheers for the response.

Does anyone else have experience of dropping their dual core laptops for the atom based netbooks?

I went from a core duo 1.66Ghz to the atom and for what I use it for the difference isn't drastic. Okay the former was on Vista and my Atoms on XP but for general tasking I find it fine :)
