hi guys,

at my house i have my xbox plugged into some hard wired sockets on the wall.

the plasma is hanging on the wall and the guy who installed it hard wired some component sockets next to my plug sockets. so i just plug the xbox into the wall sockets and it works on the plasma.

if i go ahead and buy a ps3 is there a way i can plug both consoles into the 3 red white and yellow sockets and the plasma wil just display whichever console is on at that time?

i dont want to have to change wires every time. thanks

Only 3 connections red white yellow?

Sounds like composite imputs and while you could using it with a PS3 you are not going to get a HD signal.

However you could split them and as long as you only had one console turn on they would work fine.

However connecting a Ps3 or 360 to a plasma but composite should be a crime.

it probably is a crime!

the problem is the plasma sits on a wall and i cant get to the connectors (just the way it was installed)

i am not sure what i can do to connect through VGA....

maybe i will take another look at it.

thanks

yes as said if they are red white and yellow then the guy wasnt really doing you much of a favour. Composite willl looks awful and not be using the power of your consoles/ potential of the TV.

Could be that the plasma is old? Some of the early models didn't even support HD anyway so best you would get is via a VGA connection at 480.

Although in answer to your original question (rather than just criticisms of your choice of connection or plasma installer) you can just use a set of RCA connector splitters which will do the job fine and dandy.

its a new plasma so it does support HD.

i asked the guy for VGA cables at the time. damn annoying that he only went for composite.

Couldn't you just pull through some more cabling?

um yeah i might be able to. it wont work as well though, at the moment the composite are hard wired into the wall behind the sofa. so the xbox is totally out of site and the plasma just sits against the wall with nothing below it.

the DVD and sky HD box sit behind the wall the plasma is attached to. there is a small device that allows me to control them both from infront of the TV.

it works great to be honest its just a shame its only composite.

i coudl try and attach some more cables but i think it would start to get messy.

i dont think re wiring is an option either!
