Attaching loft board to breeze block

Hi guys,

I'm currently putting down loft boards using some stilts I got from B&Q to keep it away from the insulation. My issue is that I want to board up to the edge of the house wall, which is breeze block.

To hold each board I was thinking of putting a wooden 1x4cm beam at the same height as the top of the stilts and laying the board on top (see image below).

What fixings would you recommend to attach the wooden support beam into the breeze block and how many should I use per 100cm? I was thinking of using standard rawl plugs but not sure on suggested length or if the brick will be strong enough to take them. As I will be walking on these boards and storing items they need to be able to take a fair bit of weight. Don't want to be falling through the roof!

Cheers

You need chemical fixings if solid. Wall plugs won't work and that sort of use will eventually fatigue

Butterfly fixings if hollow.

I'd also use the joists below to support than batton with a few bits of wood

Oh and it needs to be much bigger than 10mm deep. Get some 2x4 CLS

Cheers Simon. I think they're solid based on experience in other parts of the house.

So you would attach it to the wall and then support from the joists below too?

I don't have any experience with chemical fixings outside of wood glue ha. Could something like this throughbolt not work every 50cm?

I could then use some of the same wood attached to the joists?

Edit: It is a new build so likely to be Thermalite rather than breeze block.
