ATV2 xbmc file question

Whats the better format to use to stream to my atv2, Mkv or Mp4?

Am I right in thinking that mp4 is a more compressed file format? Making it better to stream over wifi or will mkv stream just as easily?

These are both containers, meaning they "contain" any number of different data streams. MP4 isn't a "more compressed file format" as it is just a holder for various video and audio codecs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_Part_14#Data_streams) and the same goes for MKV.

Yep, it depends on the file. You could have a 1024kbps mp4 and a 64kbps mkv (just pulled numbers out of the air)

I have had no issues with 720p mkv and I hear people having no issue with 1080p rips bein down scaled by the atv2 either
