I'm looking to use my old E8500 Core 2 build (Asus P5Q-E, 4GB RAM, HD4850) as a cheap option to get a HTPC up and running.

My only requirements for the case really are:
  • Fits an ATX motherboard
  • Has an external 5.25" (though might compromise this if needed)
  • Suitable to sit alongside TV & HiFi equipment

So far I've found a couple of suitable cases:
Silverstone GD09
Cooltek G3

Anyone know of others, or have experience with either of these?

I used to use Silverstone myself, for my old ATX I used an LC13, my current HTPC is a GD02B, they have a few which can take a full ATX and decent gpu length. Personally I am not fond of those two, but at the time of release they were ok.

These days I would look at the models with 120mm case fan ability. The GD09B is what I would be going for if I had an ATX to go into an audio rack, in fact I am contemplating one for the kids room if I give them an amp and rack that are sitting around. It has dust filters, and can take two 120mm fans as intake, with a 120mm as out, and the PSU has it's own grill or can have the fan inside the case. Fan filters too. And no silly hidden optic bay flap.

The only limitation is the CPU cooler height, of 138mm.
