After looking round at others phones im now back at the bloody iPhone lol!

The contracts are **** so im NOT going down that route... yet.

I was thinking £250 for 8Gb off the bay and then a nice Sim only from T-Mobile with 350 mins and 650 texts for £15!!! then bolt on internet for £7.50 makes it a lovely deal...

But how hardy are the phones? Im worried about it breaking and £250 down the drain aint fun...

Im waiting until the 11th for everything to "settle down" information wise as I doubt there will be *any* 3G ones about

But yea, opinions?

Your proposed option (8GB iPhone EDGE)
((15 + 7.5) * 18) + 250 = £655

Official iPhone 3G option: (8GB iPhone 3G)
(35 * 18) + 99 = £730 (+£75)

Official iPhone 3G option: (16GB iPhone 3G)
(35 * 18) + 159 = £789 (+£134)

It's not a huge saving when you factor in the unlimited browsing, The Cloud hotspots and the added stuff with 3G.

Also, it will "just work" and will be less hassle / headache to use as it won't need unlocking everytime an update is launched :)

Not to mention the ones on eBay are either a) second hand or b) going for insane prices or c) sold by scammers or d) all of the previous

Thing is I get free wifi anyway as im part of the BT Openzone thingy, so that counts for nothing.

I won't be browsing that much anyway and I use more texts than the contract allows ~ 600 and over the last 18 months i've used 140 mins...

So basically its £20 of stuff which is totally and utterly a waste of money :(

Edit: the £7.50 bolt on I don't think i'd select, instead just do the £1 a day thing if and when I needed mobile internet...

Anyone know if the reset to factory default relocks the phone?

As the dude im buying it from still has a few items on there and personally I'd like to set all the messaging, contacts, etc back to stock.

Possible or should just config as I go?

I've read over on MacRumors that ZiPhone buggers the boot loader?

Is this true? How can I find out if the one im getting has issues? (It was bought just before they ran out on the £169 offer!)

It changes the bootloader, but you can change it back yourself extremely easily.

There's no need to though, people are making a fuss over the bootloader for no reason.

ZiPhone is the best way to unlock.

Ok well I want to wack V2 software on there for the apps store...

I'll wait a week before I do that tho.

Sorry for hi-jacking but rather than making a new thread I thought I will ask here.
Now the V2 iPhones are out how soon are we going to be seeing V1 iPhones on the bay for £160 or below?

Really want to get an iPhone but am not willing to spend a huge amount on a V2.

Thanks.

Quite a while I'd imagine... they might drop slowly over time with a decent drop with PAYG V2, they are still going for £250+ for a good on the bay!

Ok, now this is where some patients and research could have come in...

T-Mobile doesn't really have EDGE coverage and now O2 are allowing people to use ANY O2 sim, O2 actually have a EDGE network :/ Oh well 30 day contract whoop!

Also my vibrate thing doesn't work at all :(

Boo :(

I love this thing!!! Its only those two issues which are annoying me, hopefully both will be resolved when I restore it to V2 and use an O2 sim.

And texting is fine, i thought it would be annoying but a light touch and it works perfectly.

Love this thing, now I know why It doesn't come with a manual!

mine had the problem of actually ringing when i first jailbreak it, had to re-jailbreak it again to fix. May be thats all you need to do.

Does it vibrate the moment when you flip the switch ?

No.

And its pretty much brand new, the seller had hardly used it and there isn't a scratch on it, its mint! 14 mins call time before I got it.
