I have been speaking to my brother, apparently on his company car the way the finance on it works is that you can either hand the car back or buy the car for a 'final settlement fee'. The thing is that the final settlement fee is only about £11k! In theory he says I could buy the car for that amount of money from his company since otherwise they would just hand the car back. The lease doesn't expire for another 18 months though. The car only does 6'000 miles a year mostly driven by sister-in-law, so by then it it would still only have 24k on the clock!

It is an 05 plate Audi A4 Avant 2.0TDI SE but the extras he added include; full leather, sat nav, electric lumbar support, bluetooth, BOSE hifi, tyre pressure monitors, 18 inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors, voice control, rear side airbags, storage pack and aluminium inlays.

The things that make it seem a bargain are that I know the total history of the car because it has been driven only by my brother and his wife (and sometimes me), the fact that all the extras are fully depreciated by the finance company over the term of the lease and the fact it has stupidly low miles!

As a further bonus he says since he is the director he won't mind putting on the company credit card a new set of tyres, a new DVD disc for the sat-nav and getting the alloys refurbed since his wife isn't too hot with parking!

Sounds like a good deal since the list price of the car with all the extras was just shy of 30k!

Sounds good but you've still got to wait 18months though haven't you...?

At which point I don't know how much it would be worth at that time.

Yeah but the price will still be 11k... which is less than 4 year old A4's are going for at the moment
