I've come across would could be a real bargain.
Its a 51 plate (2002) Audi A4 2.0 SE for £3500. One owner but it has 110,000 miles on the clock. Basically they're people my parents know and its been used for business as well as shuttling the family around.

Would the mileage put any of you off? Its in A1 condition with full service history.

enough said

Audi know how to make cars that last, (well vag group in general do(see my posts on 1/2 million mile octavias)

but thats nothing for a well maintained modern engine,

Thanks guys - I'm not terribly good when it comes to cars, hence the slight apprehension when looking at the mileage!

My Rover's on 127,000 and that's already had its head unit (or something like that) replaced. As this car's an Audi, such replacements will prove to be somewhat harder on the bank balance I suspect..

Yes but the Audi is also Honed from the purest Germanic perfection

whilst the rover is put together by some bloke in a shed between feeding his pigeons

Thats a real bargain - it will be a newer shape A4 and they are good cars - for £3500, they are astounding cars. I will even go so far as to say you will not find a better car this side of £5000. It's worth twice that even with that mileage.

Steady on. It can and will break.

Its the same answer to ever other "is this starship mile car worth while buying"

If you dont do a lot of miles >6-8k PA then yes.

If you indend to do 12-20K PA then no.

Not every BMW, VAG and merc strolls past 100k with no bother.

Hmm our B6 avant has been in the wifes possesion for 2 years and 40k miles now :) she drives it like she stole it offers nothing in the way of checking anything and th eonly thing it has had is servicing and 3 sets of brakes :)

so's our car

but french cars still get a right bashing on here.

down to invididual experiences i guess :)

water off a ducks back.

although i would have a real good look at service book, phone dealer to confirm mileage.
if its done 250k some wear signs will be present so clocking it to 50-60k would arouse suspicion but 110k.... worth a quick phone call ;)

As long as it has been properly serviced and maintained then I don't see why not, 20K a year is nothing to those motors. My old man's A6 just hit 250K doing around 30K a year since we got it, and the engine hasn't missed a beat. Well, it did once or twice but we changed the plugs and plug leads and it's good now ;).

Thanks for all the tips - I'm hoping it is the 'newer' shape (obviously not the latest, but something not too boxy at the front).

Anyway I should be going to see it tomorrow, I'll bring my camera along and get a few snaps then post 'em here :)

Dunno about the 2.0 but mine has a life of 80,000 miles I believe. Though most owners swap on a 60k schedule for piece of mind.

On the B6 new shape is 60K is the service interval for timing belt.. however as its an Audi not exactly cheap when it comes to replacing the belt as tend to change the water pump at the same time. Audi Dealer wanted £600 inc vat! even a normal oil change is not exactly cheap even if you do it yourself as it can cost £20-30 just for the synthetic oil.. but as has been said above at that mileage and that year is a steal as you are looking at £6K+ Mine has 113K on it and still valued at £8.5K by a dealer I took it too yesterday albeit its a Avant SE with factory fitted tinted windows.

Some pics at last!

Been away - finally took it for a test drive this evening and I'm taking it for a little under 3.5k (with a little negotiation!) - would take if for the 3.5k asking price anyway.

Some pics at last!

Yeah I was pretty stoked when I first saw it - drives superbly as well (though compared to my Rover 416 (the blue car in one of the pics) that's hardly a surprise! :)
