Audi A4 Turbo where is it and ?

Ok I know nothing about engines but am trying to locate not only the part number but also the manufacturer's number I am lead it begins with a 7? the reason is I want to order a turbo but from what I am being told there are 3 possible models that fit my B6 (52 plate)
So if someone could either provide a link to a picture that would give me an indication of where to look for the turbo and where to look for the model numbers it would be greatly appreciated..

At the base of the exhaust manifold at a complete guess

find the airbox and follow the hose to the engine.

next stop = turbot

You'll find the turbot in the Atlantic somewhere.

You will very likely need to remove the heat shield to be able to read the part number on the turbo.

Doubt that would help, the turbo inlet points towards the front of the car, quite hard to read the part number.

If he told us which A4 it was that would help!

I have just looked on mine and you cannot see the part number, Audi must be able to tell from your chassis number

First bit of info you need is you engine code, should be one of the following:

AVF/AXW/AWX/AVF

Its stamped on the top of the block, should be easy to see.

Then its one of these:

Personally i'd phone the Audi main dealer and ask them for the part number!

Are you gonna keep it stock, or do you want more power, if so dont put the standard turbo back on, go for something better like a hybrid.

If you want useful then the turbo will be in the engine bay. Normally people get confused and think it's under the rear wheel arch.

What type of turbo(t) are you looking for exactly? It needs to be matched with the engine number and its important that you get the right one. Does yours look like this?
