Audi owners in here!

Before my car went in for a service (and diesel-gate BS), you could open/close all windows using the unlock/lock buttons on the keyfob. This is no longer possible. WTF?

Should be configurable via DIS/MMI, they've probably done a software update which has reset it for some reason.

Just updated the maps and software to 2017. Not spotted much difference, other than maps where a few of the roads we went to recently that didn't exist now exist on the map.

A little bit fiddly/tricky - but actually if you read/re-read/and re-re-read everything it's not too hard to follow.

Thanks to @paradigm and @MarkeR for their advice. :)

Guys I'm considering buying a 2005 A3 3.2 Quattro DSG. Is there anything I should be asking or looking for reguarding the dsg, engine or car In general?

Regular servicing on the DSG box is generally key. Much the same as the engine. And Haldex servicing also, look to see if that's been done.

Beyond that, they are nice enough to drive. Although perhaps, to my mind, not very quick for the fuel they use. But stick the right exhaust on one, and they do sound good.

Thanks they say it's got a full audi service history so I'm hoping it would have been done when needed. Will it mention service of dsg and Quattro system in service book?

I would think it should. If it's fully serviced by Audi, they should have done all the required servicing on time, unless the owner specifically opts out. I will be honest though and admit to having never owned a DSG car before, and my Haldex cars previously have been VW's.

So I had new front discs and pads fitted about a month ago, and on my trip through Germany I noticed a rumbling from the front under braking from around 90MPH+
What is this about? The brake feel is good, the brakes stop very well, no squeal and it tracks straight under braking..

Could this be a warped disc? I didn't do any hard breaking in the first few hundred miles or anything. Come to think of it, I don't remember doing much hard breaking at all really and it'd done a good few hundred before this trip.

Had the front diff dropped yesterday for a check and oil change. Seems fine as does the transmission but I am going to need to replace front CV/Ball joints as they are both noisy but not like anything you have heard before. Didn't go with Audi, went with a specialist R8/Gallardo/V10 race/road car builder who works with Audi who is now going to do all the work on my R8 in conjunction with Audi so I can leverage my Warranty and Audi, but use the best skills in town to do the work. Win and Win. Happy Housey and a real breath of fresh air. However my weekend to the Ring was a wash out and I am going to need a new windscreen....new dashboard (marked after stuff flew off my seat) and tyre repair due to a tack.

Expensive weekend.

So that's the new A8 announced with it's android based infotainment and touchscreen only interface.

I seriously hope BMW and/or Mercedes still have proper controls by the time I come to switch cars, I despise touchscreens in cars, terrible to use without taking your eyes off the road.

When the marketing department is given a truck load of cash and totally loses the plot:

I'm amazed they haven't been banned on safety grounds. I believe the US (which already has more stringent rules on use of certain controls whilst moving) has imposed even stricter rules on touch-screen interfaces. They have no place in cars. They look cool in a demo or brochure but, in actual use, they're a total pain in the backside.

I just ordered a TTS......

Hairdressers car I know, but I will feel very pretty :p:D

Am looking at a very similarly specced S3 at the moment. Surprised full Matrix LED Headlights aren't available on the TT, unless I've missed them.

I'm sure you'll love it, I had a loaner TTS convertible before I picked up my S3 and it was lovely, couldn't have coped with the comparative lack of practicality though.

Out of interest, is your S3 Navarra? If so do you have any regrets? Slightly concerned it's a bit "too brash".
