Audi owners in here!

I know there are a lot of factors but does anyone have a rough estimate on fixing these adversaries on my Audi S5?

Both front Upper Suspension arm Bushes deteriorating
OFF side Front lower suspension arm inner bush deteriorating
OFF rear shock absorber dust cover incomplete

Are we talking hundreds or thousands? Will be done at a indy or audi specialist.

£826 for a years extended warranty on my B9 A4 Avant 2.0 TFSI 252ps Quattro. The age old question, to go for it or just stick the same amount aside in a pot. Haven’t got to decide until September when the car turns 3.

Is that the price you're being quoted now? I know with my RS3 whilst it was still in warranty the quoted cost was quite high, but then once it's actually due the quote dropped significantly.

I know it's a class down from the A4, but the RS3 warranty extension was only about £500.

This was putting a 1 year older example of my car into the website. I can’t plug my actual car into the website as it’s still covered by manufacturers warranty.

Had some front suspension work done recently on my C6 A6 at a specialist it was a few hundred. Would expect it to cost significantly more at a main dealer.

That’s good to know, do they send you something to extend?

Just had an email with a link to their website. Put all the details in and it gives you a quote. It says that discounts have been applied....but who knows whether there is any or not. As far as I was concerned, £550 wasn't bad for a comprehensive warranty on the S4 given how expensive it could get if anything major were to break. Extended warranty at VW for my old R32 was a similar price a number of years ago

Yeah I had an email about a month before saying it was coming up and that the price would now be discounted.

Just checked and for some reason I went with £100 excess rather than £0, but it was just under £500 for the comprehensive warranty extension.

Think the named component was £100 less than that.

That's going to depend on your engine selections - small engines like 1.5TFSI, 1.6TDI (and I think 1.8TFSI) will have a DQ200 dry clutch 7sp - these are the boxes that historically have presented more problems, though not sure if newer ones are as bad.

A 2.0TDI or 2.0TFSI will come with either the wet clutch DQ250 6sp or DQ380/1 7sp depending on age/model etc. which are all more torque capable and mostly appear to be reliable.

Generally if you see the engine torque is 250Nm or less, it's probably using the DQ200 dry clutch seven speed.

If you're looking at 150PS cars for example, in that scenario the diesel probably has the preferable gearbox, as it's over 250Nm and so gets the wet clutch gearbox.

Extremely informative, many thanks.

In the end I decided to avoid Automatic - I don't want to have the risk of gear box issues when the vehicle is out of warranty due to how easily the bills can start to add up if it ever goes wrong. I have access to a 2nd vehicle which is DSG therefore I have best of both worlds you could say.

I’ve just loaded up an SD card with a copy of all of my music with the following folder structure: artist/album/song. This is being using in an S4 B9.

The MMI sees the SD card and plays back all my music perfectly but What’s irking me is that after playback of a folder has done, it just repeats that Same folder instead of moving on to the next folder. Is there anyway of changing this? The old RNS510 I had in my Golf was able to do this and I really liked it.

Press Control (bottom-left), and then RPT.
That sub menu allows you to turn repeat off, or set it to folder or song. Took me a while to find that buried away as it was annoying me too. Folder repeat must be the default setting.

They must have put their prices up for the extended Audi warranty then as I started paying £35 a month for my B9 last December, all components.
The dl381 gearbox, dq means transverse, is capable of handling 400Nm of torque...

Looking at potential doing a fair bit of travel with work in the near future, about 12k per annum, maybe 15 with personal.

Im coming up to 2 years of driving. My current premium is £650 a year with a Fiesta 1L, which I love to bits, but for long journeys it’s a bit bland inside (gadgets and sound wise). Driving wise, it’s phenomenal, albeit lacking in power a little.

I like the look of many Audi’s, but unsure which engines are any good - I’m less familiar with them than BMWs.

Which vehicle and engine combo, up to 16k ish would be suitable for:

Fun to drive
Bit of oomph
Reasonable on insurance for a 25 year old with 2 years no claims
Well equipped (B&O necessary)

I personally like the look of the A3 saloon, but don’t know much about the engines.

I would the newer 2.0 TFSI engines are excellent (230ps version etc) in say, the last five years.

Some bargains on mk3 TT coupe / soft tops nowadays. I am incredibly biased towards them but I just can't think of a better car considering the blend between performance, tech and its surprisingly practical. A3 saloons are nice enough but I can't help feel driving one would feel a bit bland unless it was the S3/RS3 variant.

Example of a decent spec TT.

Yeah the TT is a nice motor indeed! It’s certainly going on the list :-)

I can’t find this option anywhere in the menu. You sure this is for a B9? When I press the Bottom left “Control” button the only options I get are to change the source/view. There isn’t anything labelled RPT

Ah apologies, thought B9 was the previous model, not the current model.
Do you have the MMI instruction manual in the glovebox?

When you’re playing a track on the SD in your Media screen, is there nothing similar to ‘control’ on the former MMI version? How do you see track info, fast forward, etc.?

Is this your version of MMI? https://ownersmanuals2.com/d/72620
