Audi owners in here!

Currently pays around £270, will be paying £30 at most.

Was amazed when we went and purchased the wifes Qashqai all they banged on about was tax and mpg saving

Didnt matter about any of the options the car had, the fact it has 18" alloys they forget to tell you how much it costs, when asked about servicing costs the sales guy was reluctant to tell me (£250 a time by the way).

Crazy how cars are sold these days!

Indeed, but, its a saving non the less. She'd much rather pay £30 of one months wages per year, than budget and faff around trying to fit £270 of a months wages! its just convenient for her I guess. Insurance is about £200 cheaper too.

IIRC I think its 2 years free servicing too.

Room for the dogs without having to have them on the back seats. though, I reckon they will miss the joy of having the roof down in the summer! :)

The added bonus is she gets a new car too, and doesn't have to drive a guzzling old knacker around any more :)

Does anyone here have opinions on the A6 3.0Tdi Quattro LeMans edition ?

A local Audi dealer has one, a 2008 car with about 45k miles on the clock. I've arranged a test drive for Sunday, and want to check if there are any particular problems with them.

I had a quick look at it the other day, and it seems to have different tyres on the front and back - I've heard this isn't a good thing for Quattros, can anyone shed light on this ?

Thanks in advance..

How much is it? Thats going to be the major factor in whether its worth bothering with or not. Not really a car worth spending 5 figures on anymore.

My inclination is to go for an XF 3.0D which I'll also be driving shortly, but I wanted to check out the competition to ensure I make the right choice.

I'm half expecting the Audi to feel too harsh with the S Line suspension, but it seems to be well rated with good build quality, lots of equipment and pretty bomb-proof. I'll also have a look at what BMW have to offer - budget is up to about £20k, but less would be nice...

£20k saloon?

no brainer, leave the Audi thread.

£20k now buys a nice F10 5 Series, such as this 530d with sensible miles and pro nav with 8 speed auto:

Or this one:

Or for less money...

A generation ahead of the Audi (The new A6 only came out last year).

IMHO there is no finer executive saloon than the current model 5 Series.

what a dull set of cars they look, forget how boring the SE 5 series is.

If you want a sub £20k executive saloon, you must compromise somewhere. It's not as if the outgoing A6 is at all exciting even in S-Line form, plus it's a a car from 2004, a passable E60 rival.

The old shape A6 is a great car for £10k, but £20k? Don't go near it, you can buy a much better car.

Paradigm,

On your A4, what ps is the engine, and what sort of economy are you getting now?

Also do you know how to disable headlight washers?

The lowly 140 (136 bhp), and the car has returned an average of 57.6MPG since the day I picked it up.

You can turn them off with VCDS I believe, or at least I'd imagine so, as it'd be the opposite for adding them!
