Hi all,

Looking at upgrading my mk5 Gti for a b8 S4.

I know a lot about extra's and what to look for in a MK5 Gti but near to nothing about the S4.

Are there any must-have options when looking? Anything to be wary of?

Thanks

The B&O is a nice upgrade over the standard system. Make sure it not only has Bluetooth calls, but also Bluetooth audio - depending on the year, it's not a default option.

Yes, the Sports diff! Unfortuantely very rare, but well worth the money!

When I bought my B8 (not an S4 unfortunately) must haves were B&O and Nav, but Nav can be re-trofitted in a day for not thaat much money.
Depending on the generation of the car (facelift or not) most likely you won't have bluetooth audio via A2DP. There is MMI 2G, MMI 3G both with high/low and MMI 3G Plus (facelift only), I converted from MMI 2G High to MMI 3G Plus high.
B&O is pretty decent, the subwoofer is weak but can be upgraded easily and then it becomes quite good.

AMI (Audi Media Interface) is also nice, but can be retroffited. You can also potentially get Bluetooth through it. :)

Other driving aids are quite nice - Adaptive Cruise and Brake Guard are old tech and not the smoothest in the world, but I still like them on my B8. :)

Great advice, my Alfa has bluetooth calls but having to connect the cable for music is a pain compared to my wifes Mercedes which has bluetooth audio.

Thanks, i take it damper control is another must?

Heard lots of good things about it
It is quite good, comes as part Audi Drive select which is damper, steering and throttle option control.
It makes the standard Auto setting pretty decent, with comfort quite wallowy and sluggish and Dynamic very harsh on anything but perfect surfaces. Personally I thought it was better balanced on my F30 (default was comfort which was as soft as Audi but the car was reasonably responsive for daily driving).

I can imagine that a car without it - S Line suspension and 19" wheels can be rather... crashy so I'd try to get that as well. Usually comes together with the Sports Diff, although there are cars who have just Drive Select without the Diff.
