Following on from my first thread about my service - Audi have just rang me to let me know what (extra) is wrong with my car;

1. CV Boot needs replacing
2. Coil spring on its way
3. Nail in drivers side, rear tyre in sidewall

I dont have the cash at the moment to get the coil spring replaced (They want £160) but I have got the CV Boot done, costing £120. Obviously I will need a new tyre (will get 2 at the same time) - I remember someone posting a website where you select the tyres you want and where you live, the website then goes off and finds the garages beside you and compares the prices - I have forgot the name of that site though :(

And lastly... what tyres would you all suggest? I currently have el' cheapo's on the front (on when I bought the car) and Sport Contact 2's on the rear.

Cheers,

Craig

Try www.blackcircles.com They'll come and fit the tyres at your house free of charge. It depends on what you can afford. Go for either Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 or Toyo Proxes T1-R. The Toyos are much cheaper and are on par in performance, except in the wet where the Eagles edge ahead slightly.

Thats the website I was after Scuzi - thanks :)

I dont have a lot of cash to spend, so would opt for the Toyos - do they last very long? I do about 17k per year so need some hard wearing tyres.

I've been shopping on there for tyres for the missus' car today.. can't see an option for home fitting though.. just fitting at a local centre?

Maybe i'm being stupid :)

They've offered to replace just one? You should really have the opposite side replaced as well.

Sorry, you're right. I was thinking of the wrong site. I meant to post the link to www.etyres.co.uk
I've used them myself and have been very impressed with the service.

I really dont know where you get this 'slightly' from, I've yet to find anything which compares these two tyres and all I know of wet performance is one of the more respected people on here, Will Gill I think, saying the Toyos were not really that hot in the wet...

Personally in this situation I'd get some more ContiSport Contact 2's - not quite Eagle F1's in the wet, but the dry performance is excellent and it's nice to have matching tyres, SportContact 2's are far from bad tyres, very good infact.

The Will Gill tyre review said so? Oh well, that's me told. Every time I mention the Goodyears you seem to take my remarks personally. Relax.
