Now, I'm not actually talking sound quality output here as the card would be connected to an Audio Alchemy external DAC which then goes to my amp, rendering the cards DACs useless anyway.

What I want to know is how much better is the Audigy 2 processor? I seem to remember reading that the Audigy 2 used far less CPU cycles when processing EAX effects... or was that the Audigy 4?

If you were to completely forget about the fact that the Audigy 2 has better sound quality through analogue output, are there any real differences in the two cards? Does the Audigy 2 support a higher version of EAX or anything?

Cheers

I seem to recall you could download a slightly hacked driver that let you run your Audigy 1 as an Audigy 2 card (minus the 7.1 decoding)

And that was about it... other than that it ran fine so go figure, can't be a big difference can it!
I think thats because the Audigy series use a chipset that is essentially a processor that can run any software that is written for it, rather than a piece of hardware that is designed for certain tasks like the old Aureal sound cards.

I got EAX4 Driver update for Audigy1 and I got it through Creative themselves?

If you cant find it... Gimme a shout and I will chuck it onto a CD for you.
