audigy 2 add on the platinum?

hey just wondering if anyone know if its possibly to simply add on the 5.25" bay audio panel with an existing card?

i have an SB audigy 2, just the standard card but been looking at the platinum ones that come with the drive bay add on, now im wondering can i just buy the bay part and hook it up to my card or would i have to have the platinum card to go with it?

the cards look identical as far as i can tell so could i just install the platinum drivers and plug the drive bay component into it?

The internal drive bay will work just fine with your card

For that card you need the right bay a later model one for example may not enable all of the connections on the card. Quite an old item now so manufacturers site / usual 2nd sources

Any bay will work, be it an original audigy bay, and audigy 2 or 2zs bay.

Not sure if the X-Fi bay would work mind

Nope X-FI Line Drive wont work on Audigy AFAIK.

ahh i see, well im a second gen drive on ebay but its sold as untested so might be broken, and another that comes with the same card as i already have so could always just sell the the spare card to a mate

as for getting it from creative i dont think its possible, have googled it n people link to the creative site but thats from a few years bck so its only the x-fi that come up and no idea about 2nd sources apart from ebay

My Audigy 2 ZS Platinum bay is sat unused, I might sell it for the right price (I have no idea how much it's worth!)

will that one work with mine? my board is the SB0240, its just the standard audigy 2 board, 6.1 etc etc... but with the gold contacts

Creative change bay design for each generation, appearance changes, many of the connections remain the same and work with later cards, some change or are dropped (firewire for example). Theres a lot of threads out there on fitting previous gen bays to newer cards. I personally would use an audigy 2 bay on an audigy 2 card. Last time I checked my audigy 2 zs would not take all the connections I wanted from an audigy 2 bay
