On my headset (cheapo Logitech) it has a Mic plug and a plug for the headphones, am I supposed to plug the headphones plug into the same socket as my desktop speakers using some kind of adapter?

When I was using onboard sound I could use both my desktop speakers and the headphones at the same time, (a socket for each plug) I just used to switch off my desktop speakers when I had my headset on. I can't seem to get it to do this with the Audigy. In the Creative control panel its set to 2.1, do I need to change this?

Any advice appreciated, hope someone knows what i'm on about:p am considering getting a Medusa set but the plugs will be similar anyway? so still need this question answering if possible:)

Unless I can plug both plugs directly into the Audigy like I could with my onboard AC97?:(

No that's the wrong cable, that splits stereo into two mono phono sockets that headphones don't fit into. The headphone splitter DinAlt posted will work, but one with a bit of cabling between the two ends would be better. I can see some situations where that could block other soundcard inputs.

Audigy doesn't have seperate headphone output though, unless you have digital speakers, then the centre out becomes digital out, and the front out can be used for headphones.
