Audigy 2 or P3C-DS3R onboard sound?

If you play games that depend on game-sense and directional sound (Counter-Strike: Source for example), then don't touch the onboard sound on the P35C DS3R.

I've just upgraded from the Azalia/Realtek onboard to an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and I'm very happy, now I have directional sound and know where footsteps are coming from.

I was using on board, the HD realtek thing, just got a x-fi extrem music and its sooooo much better its not funny.

I got it off ebay for £20

I'm using 2.1 as well.

Indeed. I've just installed the same board, decided to give it a go instead of my Audigy2 I had installed.

Music is about the same - but games are awful, just awful. Practically no positional sound at all.

I'm now scanning the archives to see whether its worth getting a new XFi or similar over the Audigy2....
