I have an Audigy 2, which doesn't have proper Vista drivers and I think it is causes issues in some of my games and now with my 8800GTX.

What would be a similar card that I could upgrade to? One with a firewire port would be ideal :)

A card from the creative XFI range would be the logical progression from your current card,as far as I know they have full Vista compatibilty along with EAX 5.

The only cards that had firewire were the audigys.

None of the X-Fi cards have it.

EDIT :

If you go for the xtreme audio then make sure you get the PCI-E one as the PCI version is worse than the audigy 2 as it has no hardware accelleration. The PCI-E version does and supports EAX up to EAX 3, but not EAX 5.

Right, I just tried my Realtek onboard sound and the game problems disappeared... so it was definitely the Audigy 2.

As long as the Xtreme Audio is on par or better than the Audigy 2, I will go for that - at the end of the day, it is only £30.54:

The Xtreme Music looks nice though:

Yes the PCI-E one is a great little card. Ive got one. Works perfect in Vista also.

If you can afford the extra the Extreme music is the better card tho

I got an Audigy 2, the platinum thingy and I use the Live Drive with it to record tapes / LPs as well as let the kids bugger about with a mic and a kind of home-grown karaoke and I have never once had a single issue caused by Vista32 or 64 that I can put down to tyeh SoundCard.
I am currently on XP64 because I have a few other reasons to not waste my time with Vista, but Audio is not one of them.
As I said, the drivers on the website give me full control of the Audigy 2 card in Vista.

im running an audigy 2 in vista with an 8800gt with no problems atall, only thing ive noticed is that vista says the gameport is not compatible.

Yes, gameport here too, but who the hell uses the gameport these days?

1 - USB Joysticks are vastly superior
2 - MIDI - No seld respecting professional would be wasting time with using the Midiports on a Creative.
