Depends on the motherboard. I wasn't that impressed when I tested an old Audigy 2 ZS recently (after upgrading from one 2 1/2 years ago to an X-Fi). I'd have gone for the onboard on my P5Q-Deluxe over it.
in theory would remove another process from your cpu so im keeping mine for now
dont know if its better than onboard of newer mobos but is better than my asus p5w deluxe
