Audigy 2 ZS drivers question

Hi,

Two quick questions - I've just read that apparently the Audigy 2 ZS will work with X-Fi drivers. Is there any actual benefit to doing this though?

Other question - just been reading about how you can soft mod an Audigy 2 ZS to an Audigy 4. Same question - anyone done this and does it actually gain you anything?

I suspect that there would not be much gain to be had TBH. It is not like the A2ZS is the same hardware as an A4Pro or an X-Fi, but with a couple of things disabled (in the same way a Radeon 9500 had a couple of pipes disabled). The regular A4 is more or less a rebadged A2, so nothing special there.

I softmoded my audigy 2zs to an audigy 4 a while back and the whole process was a pain to say the least and i didnt notice any increase in performance or sound quality i personally dont think its worth doing.

An X-FI is totally different core to previous cards, nearly all previous audigy cards have similar cores

Sounds like neither thing is worth doing then, especially given how complicated the soft mod is.
