Can somebody tell me which sound card is better as i am debating which one to put in.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1
Vs
C-Media CMI8768 7.1

(ProSound 7.1 PCI Sound Card with Coaxial Digital Out) 1st result on google.

Thanks!:D

Definately thirded, if thats such a word. :p

If Creative got their act together and got the Vista drivers sorted that is. My Audigy SE, which uses different drivers to the 2 ZS I believe, worked fine with Windows 7 drivers aslong as I used analogue speakers. If I tried to use my digital 5.1 speakers, the drivers fell flat on their face, if they had one.

Could someone point me to the correct drivers for Windows 7 x64 (that they used) and what software should i be looking for. As when i installed the card yesterday, all of the drivers that i clicked to download said that the server location had changed, and i couldn;t find what software to use.

The drivers that Windows 7 automatically downloaded for it didn't work properly. When i went to configure the card in the Control Panel, it only said stereo and one other option, whereas i use 5.1 surround sound. So i have reinstalled my other sound card 'til i can find the correct drivers and software.

Cheers!

Audigy 2 ZS driver

Top one. With the Windows 7 driver for my X-Fi, it was more an updater tool. It included the driver, but also selections for which software, control panel, alchemy etc. I don't know if it will be similar for the Audigy 2 ZS.

No, X-Fi uses new architecture and sheds some of the horrible functionality like forced resampling that the previous cards (incl Audigy) had.

And thank gog for it, finally we have the ability of bit perfect output, no more 44.1Khz to 48Khz upsampling trash.

The Audigy and Cmedia chipsets will both follow the AC-97 standard and totally screw up the sound by upsampling, so it is entirely up to you, the Audigy *should* be better on paper.
