Audigy 2 ZS

i'll cut to the chase,i know bugger all bout soundcards,but have an opertunity to buy the card mentioned in the title

i'm on onboard sound at the minute(dfi expert board).would it be a worthwhile investment(mostly play fps),or be a waste of cash?

how much should i pay for it?

I wouldn't pay more than £20-25 given the price of the Audigy 4. The Audigy 2 ZS is a very good card though. As for what it'll actually give you over your onboard, it'll use less CPU cycles so you could get a few extra frames per second in games, plus it'll do EAX3 + 4. Whether it will actually sound better, I would expect it will at least a little but don't expect a night and day difference.

I've got a DFI UT250 (754 version of your board) and I upgraded to a Audigy 2 ZS and noticed a big difference.

Definatley worth the £43 that I paid for it.

i managed to pick it up for £15 in the end.just installed it now,and gotta admit i'm very impressed.everything sounds so much clearer and richer.bf2 sounds amazing now
