Audigy 2ZS and 7.1 surround sound not working??

Hi,

My brother recently bought an Audigy 2ZS but not the one thats gold just the one with the silver back plate and the colour sockets. Now I used to have the Audigy 2ZS gold variety and they worked fine with my 7.1 speaker setup. Now I have given me 7.1 setup to me brother and it doesn't seem to want to work?? Is it only the Gold Audigy cards that can do 7.1?

Are you saying that it doesn't work at all or it doesn't work in 7.1?

There are many Audigy 2 versions, so I am not too sure about their exact differences. But if it follows the X-Fi series, the OEM differs from the retail by having gold plated connector.. but from a functionality point of view, they should be the same.

Sorry should have said that there is sound comming from 5 speakers and the sub but not the 2 rear speakers, thus it seems to be running in 5.1 setup like his old speaker setup. Now the software I downloaded from creative in there autoupdate thing installed fine but the software seems different to when i had the Audigy 2ZS. When I had it there was a diagnostics center for setting up 7.1 surround sound can't find it on my brothers computer at all. I have also changed in the audio thing in control panel to 7.1 speakers and still no luck.
