Hi All

Building a new rig and i'm unsure whether the X-Fi is a worthwile purchase to replace my audigy 4.

I am mostly concerned with the quality of music which is played through my Logitech Z-5500's

Anyone made a similar change or think its not worth it?

Id say its not worth it, if u want better sound have a look at the new Asus card.

Ive still got a Audigy 2 in my machine, wont buy another Creative , waiting on M-Audio to get vista drivers out or a price drop on the asus card /introduction of midrange cards (no need for 7.1)

If you haven't already, try the KX Project drivers with the Audigy 4. Sounded better to me than the standard Creative drivers, although you loose EAX support iirc.

Thanks for the advice, the Asus is a bit out of my price range at the moment so i think ill keep the audigy for a while.

I take it this will still be better than the on board sound on my proposed new board the Abit IP35 Pro?

I went from audigy 2 zs to xfi extreme music very recently
i wasn't extremely impressed i notice no improvement at all
maybe a little with crystallizer on but not much and what's all the mode switching nuttox pain in the rear to keep remembering to switch to game mode.
Yea miles better the realtek hd onboard in the pro is pants.

If you haven't tried it already, give X-Fi Mode Switcher a try :

Can be a little buggy on some setups, but does work well.
