Audigy SE install problems

I've acquired a cheapo Soundblaster Audigy SE but am having problems installing it fully. The setup comes up with an error message saying:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program."

Thing is, although the install prog closes at this point the driver (or part of it at least) does get installed. However I am unable to access any of the advanced functions such as Creative Diagnostics, EAX setting, CMSS etc.

I tried downloading a newer driver but the exact same thing happens.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

no one got any ideas?

tbh it's probably not worth bothering with as soundcards go (apparently uses software for EAX or something) & i'm tempted to sell it & get a proper card or stick with my onboard. It bothers me though that it won't install properly.

Perhaps I will try a different PCI slot...
