Is it onboard sound?

Logical thought is to go Device Manager and check sound drivers, perhaps uninstall and reinstall drivers. The restart PC. If the issue persists, it might be of further concern.

If it is a hardware problem, perhaps the motherboard is overheating and causing issues in games.

If you get sound via the HDMI port on the graphics card, then uninstall and reinstall your GPU drivers.

If a software fix fails, then you may consider two options, RMA he motherboard etc as faulty for replacement.

Or an easy fix, buy a soundcard, external or internal one.

I have a Creative Sound blaster Z, works in Windows 10 perfectly.
