Hello.

I've just come back from a format, installed Chipset, lan sound drivers etc.

Sound is working fine but for some reason I keep getting a found new hardware message. It happened after the last format but I can't remember what I did to fix it.

It's onboard sound, 'Realtek High Definition Audio Driver'.

If anyone knows how to sort this problem out please let me know.

Thanks.

EDIT - I used the disk that came with my motherboard to install the drivers. Motherboard is JW-IP35-S.

did you download the vid drivers, if so you need the ati sound drivers from the amd web site.
Or use the cd that came with the card

HTH

Hey.

Just put the disk in that came with my graphics card and there were only the video drivers and Direct x 9 on them.

Woops, got another problem now lol!

I can't here any sound at all now with the ATI drivers installed. It's classing the ATI drivers as the primary source for sound when it should be the onboard.

Is there a way to change this?

Cheers

Hey,

Erm, goto Control panel / Sounds and Audio devices / Then goto the Audio tab, might be able to select the onboard sound from the drop down menu under sound playback...?

Cheers once again mate, sorted now.

Should it be OK to have 2 sound devices installed? I shouldn't get any conflictions should I?

Cheers.

No worries.

Don't see why you would, it's not creating the sounds on the same chip as far as I'm aware...I believe the ATI card has it's own sound chip of some sort, cause I think you connect the speakers/tv directly to the card or something via dongle of some sort...(Couldn't tell you exactly, never looked into it)...

If you are that worried, you could always right click and disable it in device manager...But just leave it, and see how it goes :)

If anyone else can help you with regards to your question though by all means reply...Always good to know.

Cheers for the information, greatly appreciated.
