1.i've read that converting audio files from MPC format to MP3 or any other results in a loss of quality....is this true and if so does the software i use to do so make any difference?

2.is the above true when converting from OGG to MP3?

3.everyone and their uncle seems to recommend EAC to rip cd's.....now i've been using cdex and the results seem pretty damn good so this has me wondering that as i've never used eac, what exactly makes it the best thing since sliced bread?

any help appreciated.

re-encoding any lossy format to another results in a drop of quality. It's unavoidable.
noticeable or not? and is it depending on choice of software or will they all lose the same amount of info per file?

EAC is the best ripper because it copes best with damaged discs:) simple as that really.
is that really the only difference?

noticable yes. sometimes very, depends on many variables. Try it is the best advice i can give you.

yup that's the only real difference. its the best in tough situations. For a perfect disc they all do the same - just rip the disc.
