Audio from 1030

I've manged to do the following

Nvidia DVI out, DVI-HDMI cable into Samsung monitor (I get 2560x1440, but only 60hz) Do I need a better quality DVI-HDMI cable?
HDMI-HDMI cable from 1030, into Yamaha AVR. On "Extend" desktop mode I get audio sent to the HDMI cable. But when I do PC screen only, it turns off the audio to the Yamaha.

How do I turn off extended desktop but keep HDMI audio on?

60hx could be the DVI to HDMI limit????

Sound over DVI was a joke when it worked in the early 2000's
if you disable the Yamaha monitor... you would disable the sound too
if your disabling the DVI-HDMI and only running the Yamaha over hdmi then i would assume a problem in sound settings

you dont. sound/picture is ever sent to or not.


what you need is a cheap 2.0 or 2.1 set up
