I was told on another forum that if I wish to run the following

JBL 75.2 2 channel amp
JBL 75.4 4 channel amp
JBL P6550c components
JBL GTO1204BP Subwoofer
JBL GTO937 6x9's

I would need a powercap

Would the person that said that be telling the truth?

Thanks.

AFAIK a powercap would only be needed if its messing up your electrics (causing lights to dim etc). Got one for sale though if you want it :P

My headlights dim already and brighten up as I turn the steering wheel, same goes for the MFD and Dash...

When i had my PG 900Watt RMS Class D Monoblock running 2ohms i was getting light dimming during the deepest bass notes, stuck on a vibe 1 farad cap and it stoped doing that + tightened up the bass.

Not sure if many of you on here have much knowledge on Corsa's apart from hating them :p

But...is it hard to do the wiring to run Components off an amp?

Current location of me amp is in the boot.

you shouldn't need a cap for them amps I doubt they'll pull more the 60-70 amps between them. Caps are mostly useless if you lights are dimming upgrade your earth straps and alternater to battery wire. if you still get dimming then get cap. why are you getting 6*9s when you getting comps and a sub in a corsa or pretty much any car 6*9s will be a wste of money.

ok, you fit components up front, a sub at rear, so you've created a nice soundstage, then you go and add 3 way 6x9's at rear too?, you've just ruined your nice soundstage. For the sake of £60 or so them 6x9's cost, get em on ebay, seriously, they will do more harm than good to the quality of the sound. Also, stick the 75.2 on ebay coz you won't need that either, just use the 75.4, bridge the sub channels, and amp the components, bobs your uncle, you've got a nice soundstage set up. :)

Oh, and forget the cap, i'm running nearly the same setup and there's no need for the cap. (The cap basically is supposed to stop your headlights dimming to the beat, but it don't happen in mine.)

Edit, if you've not bought a sub yet, may i recommend either a Polk sub or a rockford fosgate Punch sub for a budget sub rather than the JBL ones.

I'm running -

Fusion Monoblock Amp
Fusion 2 Channel Amp
2 Fusion Encounter Components
2 Kicker Impulse Subwoofers
2 Vibe 6x9's

Also a head unit with dvd player and screen and my car runs fine with no power cap. I think it's lies :)
