Audio Interface Issues

Hey all, long time no post.

I'm having a bit of an issue.

I use a Behringer USB audio interface to run my guitars through my PC. I also use ASIO to process the signal (to lessen latency etc).

The problem I'm having is that when I open Guitar Rig 5 for instance I get playback fine but it totally disables everything else playback wise. For example, i used to use Youtube for backing tracks, but now Youtube totally wigs out and shows an audio error and tells me I need to reboot when I use the USB Codec as my input source.

I previously (on my old build) used the headphone jack on my interface and ran that to the Line-In of my PC to get around that problem, but now when I try that i get a screeching sound instead of the input from the interface. I've tried making sure that everything is set between 41k and 48k but it doesn't seem to be helping.

I hope that makes some sort of sense.

Thanks!

Maybe not related at all, but when I use ASIO for a purer signal path for my DAC, there was an option under the old 'Sound' settings then under the device properties, advanced, you can set whether the devices allows applications to take exclusive control, it's often ticked by default, so if one of your apps is now locking the device, nothing else will be able to use it.

Here's my monitors audio output advanced sound settings with the tick box:

Thanks for the tip. I've turned that option off now and thought it had fixed the issue, but for some reason it changed my outputs in Guitar Rig to 'Not Connected' and when I changed them back I had the same issue. This is so frustrating lol.

EDIT: It even takes over Netflix and Media Player. I totally lose the ability to have a second audio output from another source.

Thanks for that. I'll have a look at that link.

I never used to have issues with ASIO allowing me to output multiple sources when I used the Line In for my input, but now I'm using USB as the input it's all going to hell.

Well i tried FlexASIO and that solved the output issue but the latency is too high for it to be usable. It has no GUI to adjust buffer sizes and stuff, you can create your own config file but it seems like a bit of a cluster.

I was using the headphone jack from my audio interface into my line in, but since the motherboard change, when I try to use that I'm getting like a squeeling noise over the top of the outputted audio. Which is odd cause both boards had Realtek audio.

Sorry. You did explain what you were doing in the OP. For some I was thinking you were using some different device, again with ASIO, but that was allowing for multiple applications to access the interface.

Onboard audio does vary. Both maybe Realtek, but it is up to the board manufacturer on how it is implemented. Some are implemented better than others, thus some end up being better than others.

If you can't get some ASIO software to work with multiple clients, then another possible solution might be a sound card. You should get much better line-in input with a sound card compared to the onboard audio you are using now. Not really sure what else could be done.
