Audio is broken particularly vocals.

The audio output on my pc has suddenly become very low and distorted, and vocals are almost imperceptible with Netflix, youtube (Chrome and Edge browsers) and in games too. I had a crash when alt-tabbing from Wolfenstien last night but when I ran it again it was fine, it's only since this morning that I've had the problem.

I've since reinstalled Chrome, reinstalled the audio drivers, updated the Nvidia drivers and attempted to reinstall DirectX but it won't as it's already up to date and won't progress further...

I'm at a loss as to what to do next apart from reinstall Windows 10 but that's pretty drastic and I don't have the time at the moment. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

The system is MSI XPower Z87, 4790K, 1080Ti SLI, Windows 10.

If you have stereo speakers I’d take a guess at Windows changing the audio output to 5.1 during an update or maybe if you’ve connected another monitor.

If this is the case you’d need to change it back to stereo. You can do that through playback and ‘configure’
