I got a 6 channel Peavy mixer which has a USB output (creates a USB Audio device in Device Manager and can be selected as a recording device in the computer's audio configuration).

Problem is, I am getting a slight delay (latency?) between the output through the speakers and the input - is there any way to fix this?

I have been reading a bit about using ASIO drivers for my sound card but it doesn't seem to make much sense to me!

I have quite an old Audigy 2 which isn't officially supported on Win7/8 (using Daniel K Drivers) and the onboard Realtek HD Audio is another option.

What DAW are you using? Generally you will need to lower the H/W buffer size and this can impact on performance. It depends on the software you're using though.
