Audio Lag

I'm wondering if this system isn't compatible or whether I could try a different connection configuration?

Yamaha RS202D
Samsung UE55NU8000

The only 2 connection options I seem to have are optical or Bluetooth but both are experiencing audio lag. I'm using a DAC convertor with the optical connection (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MB8VCWQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share).

Am I doing it wrong or are these 2 just not going to play nice? I know the Yamaha AVR is a budget unit so maybe that's the issue i.e. lack of connectivity options?

It's been frustrating, I've not been able to eradicate it. I'm watching via sky box and native TV apps. The last thing to try here is an optical cable direct from sky box to the AV unit but I'm not holding my breath.

I've been considering upgrading the AV unit to a 5.1 option but I'd be gutted to pay £500+ on a new unit that can't be used. I'm not sure how people manage to put up with this as it renders the TV unwatchable for me.
