Hi,

I am currently speccing a new system. i think i am going to go for a ati 4550 passive cooled gfx. i only need it for watching tv and film. i currently use an hdmi from laptop to tv to watch stuff and get the audio through the tv. i would like to hook up a monitor via dvi and a tv via hdmi on the pc. can i get audio through both with a dvi - hdmi adapter?

thanks.

also if there is a better gfx card for this i am open to suggestions.

:)

No you can't, as far as I am aware the ATI card will only output audio via one of the outputs; possibly down to some sort of licensing issues with the realtek chip.

To get duplicate audio you'd need to use 2 standard sets of speakers; an audio splitter and standard outputs. Some high end av amps would likely be able to duplicate the audio for 2 places at once, using Zones, but this is likely outside your budget.

Dont think you can get audio thought both no.
However my media centre has a ATI 4670 iceQ card (the 1GB edition) which caries audio thought HDMI. Not a bad car either.
