I'm about half way saved up for my PS3 now and was going hook it up to my 22" Flatron L227WT but it only supports DVI and VGA. If I use a DVI converter on a HDMI cable then I'm going to lose audio. I'm just wondering what everyone else does in this situation? Also is there anyway I can get my PC and the PS3 to share one DVI port?

(Edit) I used a Link from my email to the forum and posted my topic on the wrong board sorry

Multi-out for audio with an rca to 3.5 mil jack converter?

ahh didn't see he was using hdmi to dvi, thought he was usin the standard port >.<

Then yeah do this it's what i have,

(HDMI to monitor, the rac to a 3.5 mill jack into speakers)

you can get surround sound out if you use the optical but the multi-out works fine for sound when video's going over HDMI. You could save up some more and get a monitor like the new Dells which have HDMI in and audio out - that's what I've got :)

Ok, firstly, the difference between using VGA and DVI for your PC will probably be negligible, i know i didn't notice a difference when i swapped in order to connect my PS3 so i would just use the VGA socket for your PC.

For sound, what sort of speakers are you going to utilize? If they're a surround sound set like the z-5500s then an optical cable will be just fine, if it's standard pc speakers then you'll need to turn the 2x phono cables supplied into a headphone jack, run that into the audio-in on your pc and route it through the speakers. Either that or make it a female headphone socket and swap the speakers between your pc and the ps3.

If you don't get what i mean, just show what sort of speakers you have and i can give you a better idea.

VGA vs DVI can depend on the set I guess, my TV looks awful when using VGA for my PC, but HDMI/DVI is crystal clear.

Pretty strange, as VGA looks top notch on my 360.
