audio out of sync with video

Hi guys, I am using an opteron 146 at 2.7ghz, 2gb ram, 6800 graphics, windows x64. I have the latest drivers for my graphics card and latest drivers everywhere else. However I recently noticed when playing movies after a while the sound would slip out of sync with the video.

Is this a known issue and is there any way to fix it?

Is this happening on every movie? Only thought this happened on movies which havn't been coded correctly

happened on a dvd and an avi. It didn't happen a few days ago when I played the dvd last........
