Hi all,

I was testing out a new card I bought from the MM - HD2600XT and I connected to my Sony LCD via HDMI.

What I noticed is - when playing a film the sound can be a little distorted at times, when there are loud explosive scenes etc..

Also - If you skip or forward video in Windows Media Player - You get a crackle.

Any ideas?

Sounds like what I was getting when I used vista default drivers briefly. You need to download the latest Realtek HDMI Audio drivers to get the best functionality/sound quality, if you haven't done so already.

I also found in Vista that some programmes had an issue if you set the sampling rate to 192Khz/24bit (studio), so ended up using 96/24 as that seemed to work fine for everything. I'm using Vista if thats relevant.

Thanks

I'm using XP - However, why do you say 'Realtek HDMI' drivers? The card is an ATI one?

No worries, with the latest HDMI drivers, the only breaks I get in sound are when I'm alt-tabbing out/into a game, but thats because the card is busy doing its primary function and seeing as it clears instantly thats a non issue.

Oh warning. Realtek servers are gash. Server 2 of the 3 they offer tends to be the fastest.
