I have an External Soundcard, its an analogue Creative X-fi Soundblaster, and I have it connected through the Front jack ports (tried the back ports and have the same problem).

I get an audio pop/crackle sound, seems at certain frequency's perhaps, as for instance, in Arma 3, driving with the inside view, I will get a lot of this audio problem, whereas other things can be better, but if i watch a video o nyoutube of someone doing the same thing, I still hear the pops.

It also does it when skipping stages in a song using windows media player, and when using Steam chat, and not Skype, just to give some examples.

It does not happen when headset is plugged into pc, though I do get some interference/background noise when playing games, which the soundcard fixes but gives this problem.

All drivers are up to date, I've turned off the Creative control panel sound enhancements, still continue.

Any idea what is causing this or how to fix it?

Try a better quality USB cable or even a shorter one if it's over 1m.

You could also check the bit depth and sample rate in the Windows Playback Device panel and make sure it's not over 24bit/96kHz

I had a look at the 24bit/96kHz lot and adjusted them to that setting and under, still continues.

I have a shorter USB cable that fits it, tried it out and no luck.

Me and my problems, theres always something with a computer I swear :L

Would a USB ground Loop Isolator help, as people recommended that with my old/other audio problem, not sure if its still an option though now I bought the soundcard?
Thanks though

I have all sorts of noises coming through the USB power lines which are picked up by my external DAC, so much so that I've stopped using it.
I've gone back to my older DAC which has it's own mains transformer and the noise has completely disappeared.

A USB isolator should do the same job and will hopefully get rid of the noise.
