It goes PC > AV > TV

I've got sound and everything works fine in Steam and XBMC but in Spotify and via VLC the volume will dip down about every 5 seconds or so and then come back up again.

I'm running the latest catalyst install and I've disabled any Windows enhancements, also disabled communications from making any alterations to sound. I thought it could be a HDCP handshake problem but as the card is compliant and the dip doesn't seem uniform I don't think it's this.
 
I've got a solution. It seems it is a HDCP problem. When I plug a monitor in all sounds work fine, I can even unplug it and it will continue working but after a reset the problem will come back unless I plug the monitor back in again.

Are there any software solutions to HDCP?
