Audio recording

I have a couple of things that are recorded on tape and I'd like to recorded them onto my pc as mp3 files.
I'll be using the line in on my sound card.

What software is there that can do this?
Windows recorder seems to only be able to record 60 seconds.

The usual, excellent, suggestion is Audacity. It's very good for free software

if you have nero already, then the included wave editor is very capable too.
