Audio stutter in Gran Turismo 5

Rather annoyingly, my GT5 installation seems to have become afflicted by audio breakup/stutter in races, and the odd, occasional, screen tearing.
This has only recently started to happen, and only in races - no problems whatsoever with menus, licence tests etc.
Also, this problem is unique to GT5 - no other game, or media playback suffers !

Any thoughts, advice, tips ?
PS3 is connected to TV via HDMI cable - my (un-educated !) suspicion is this may be a potential culprit ?

I did think this, but wondered if perhaps it was down to 1080p and fps ? Not sure if any of my other games run at 1080p.....perhaps *carp* cable, 'handshake' issues, or similar ?

I did try re-installing, yes, but no improvement. I guess the bizarre thing is that this has only recently begun to manifest, too.....

I'm starting to wonder if sony have upped a clockspeed slightly somewhere with the latest firmware update. There was reports of consoles overheating (although I haven't bothered reading about it) and I'm certain that black ops runs smoother than it did before PSN went down.

Hhmmm, let's hope not - never had any issues with my phat 60GB, and don't really want any - I like the PS2 compatibility, 4x USB ports and card reader !
Next step for me is to try a new cable (perhaps a better HDMI or trustly old AV out !)

I had that with my 60GB PS3, i traded it in for a slim. However id check the HDMI, remove the cable and re attach it at both ends - as ive had it since with my slim and im 90% sure its related to the cable.

So happened to you with both the 60GB and new Slim ? Just GT5 ?
Mmmm, I suspect cable too, if I am honest - best try find a decent one and try....think I will try swapping the one connecting the V+HD box first.

Well, for now, just swapped the V+HD box one with the PS3......will report back on findings, when the little monkeys have gone to bed ;)

So far so good - HDMI cable the V+HD box was using was (perhaps !) a better (thicker, less flimsy !) cable and with it plugged into the PS3 all was well in GT5. Also, the V+HD box does not seem fussed with the old PS3 cable, so methinks I am sorted :D
