Hi all,
I remember a few people having problems with their Creative Labs soundcards running in vista having awful sound quailty, (sound keeps popping etc) Everytime I tried to play a mp3, a process called audiodg.exe was taking upto 50% of the CPU. Done a bit of research on this and its Vistas new sound engine (whats so good about this new one btw?)
Anyway to fix it, I went into the Audio Console in control panel (the creative labs icon), went under X-Fi CMMS 3D and unticked "Enable X-Fi CMMS-3D Virtual" and the process went down to 0% straight away
not sure if anyone posted this, hope it helps some people.. good old Creative Labs drivers
