Audit software to run from USB

I need to go and do a full software / hardware audit of a new company we have just acquired.

Rather than going to each machine and writing down things like spec, software installed etc, is there a program I can run off a USB stick to grab all that as my goole-fu is failing.

I will not have the admin logon details at the time of the audit.

Not yet, the new company has not been migrated onto our systems yet, this is a case of going to see what they have got etc and then find out what needs replacing.
