AUNE T1 (MK1 + MK2) discussion

Voskhod Rockets arrived this morning.
Cleaned the oxidation off the pins
Wiggled it into the T1 and fired it up
Donned K702's
Selected "Come with me now" by Kongos
Hit play
Commenced grinning :)

The music feels a bit more intimate, so it obviously has an effect on soundstage and it does sound slightly warmer (small amount of upper bass and lower middle boost). The differences are not initially obvious, at least to me but they are there and become more apparent with a bit more switching with the EH 6902. With the K702 having a big soundstage to start with I'm not going to miss a little and the Rocket does sound nice and musical, I think it's staying. :D

How did you clean them?

Vinegar and a baby wipe?

I've gone back to the standard EH6922 tube after a decent run with the Voskhod Rocket 6N23P. I loved the Rocket for playing blues rock, it was perfect for some Black Keys, Joe Bonamassa or Black Crowes and I certainly listened to a lot of those over the last four days. I'm listening to more jazzy material now though, Al di Meola, Eric Johnson and the like and the reduced sound stage was making it sound cramped. With the EH6922 back in the sound stage has opened back up again and sounds a lot more airy, quite superb actually. I'm looking at other tubes now, I want something with an even bigger sound stage so I have some reading and hunting to do. :D

Its a slippery slope! Before you know it you'll be shelling out more for a tube than your entire audio setup cost.
