Aureal Vortex AU8830A2

Just found an old Sound card in the loft in my box of spares,No idea where it came from its an Aureal Vortec AU8830A2

Does anyone know anything about this card?...was it considered good back in the day?

I throwed it into my old Linux system (Sempron 2800+ 1.5Gb Ram,9600Pro 256mb Graphics,Xubuntu.)but it doesnt seem to work,It is detected though...just wanted to see what 1998-1999 cards sound like.

doesn't seem like a widely used chip doesn't mean it wasn't any good
