What do you people think of programs like these ?
Are they really worth running if already using ccleaner ?
I tried out Boostspeed awhile ago, and it always found things, even after running ccleaner.
Is it worth purchasing Auslogics Boostspeed ? or are there any other programs that are just as good but free ? or just not bother with any apart from ccleaner.

I've not actually found any great speed boosts from paid for programs that people have used before...however mileage does vary. CCleaner does a pretty good job for free IMO

I always use ccleaner and auslogics disk defrag, both do a great job.

That is part of my dilemma, I no longer need to defrag because I am using an ssd as my main drive.
Boostspeed always picked up on registry entry's etc left behind by ccleaner.

With Windows 7 there's no need for an independent defrag program or registry cleaner, I only use CCleaner to tidy up on files, never touches my registry and defrag is run on a schedule although rarely takes more than a few minutes as like most people I don't fragment my drives much in normal use.

Personally I wouldn't touch Auslogics stuff now, perhaps years ago I'd have looked at it but not since I got Windows 7.

There is no point in paying for these programs at all. They might shave a couple of kilobytes off a 20MB registry hive which will make absolutely no difference to the running of your machine.

CCleaner is OK. Piriform don't make any grand claims for it. I use it sometimes to clean temporary files etc, but never use the registry cleaning component.

I've had no problems using CCleaner and it's registry cleaning....beware it can and probably will kill your pc if used without backing up the registry first. However, even on first install of Windows 7 it picks up lots of unneeded registry entries, so about once a month I do clean my main machines registry. This does get all the things I ever try on it, but your mileage may vary
