Im off to Australia for the month of March and i found out today that the Melbourne grad Prix fits in well with the time that i am there.

Has anyone been? Any tips or recommendations for when visiting?

There are a number of ticket options for different stands and zones and i wasn't sure what to go for.

Went a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

We just had General Admission tickets but that was fine.

We made full use of the trams to get around when in Melbourne and they seemed set up well to handle the race weekend. I would say to take a coat or jacket with you as the weather can change quite quickly there... It became a case of spot the Poms as all the Aussies dressed sensibly and the Brits tended to be the ones in shorts and T-Shirts when it got colder :p

GA here too (nearly 10 years ago now)

not much shade at all though (or what I thought) and while Melbourne can have a similar wet / dry weather pattern to England , being Aus - when its hot it can be scorching (which is why I mentioned the lack of shade)

Fabulous track and facilities

I went last year.

I had grandstand seats across the 4 days opposite the podium - probably not worth the high price we paid to be honest.

Atmosphere was awesome, particularly for Ricciardo, and general feeling was really good.

It's very easy to get to from the city and it's really pleasant.

One point is keep an eye on the weather. In practice it was scorching 30°+, qualifying it piddled it down and was quite chilly, on the race day it was overcast and pretty cold too, so be prepared!

There were a few support races, but they were a bit hit and miss - but if you're there for 4 days it's worth the pit walk if you get the access.

If I was going again, I'd just get GA and find a nice spot, there's plenty of screens around, and the quieter engines make it easier to hear the commentators / radios.
